Jalinda Galestorm (274x450, 30K)

Personality and background:
Jalinda is a pretty intelligent girl. The daughter of a merchant from Maridon, she has always wanted to be a Waverunner, and her family is extremely proud of her. She's level-headed, determined, and really good at shaking some sense into her friends whenever they get discouraged. However, she has been known to have a temper when really provoked, and she's awfully stubborn. Even though Jalinda is not wanted by the law, she has risked implicating herself in her friends' supposed crime in order to help them find the evidence they need to clear their names. She also refuses to listen whenever they tell her not to risk her own reputation, or when Dax tried to make her go home to see her family, when he realized she was concerned about her mother, who was recently taken ill. Jalinda is an optimistic person, not easily daunted, and she refuses to give up even if failure seems certain. Most of all, she wants to clear her friends' names and bring Reyva to justice.

Dax Querran
Dax Querran

Played by: Mark
Originality: Original character
Profession: Waverunner
Hometown: Teslev
Race: Human
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Hair: Short, white-blond
Eyes: Blue
Build: Thin, wiry
Usual clothing: Blue Waverunner uniform, or traveling clothes, blue headband
Weapon of choice: Wristblades
Basic skills: Good at covert operations, being sneaky; good fighter, charismatic, resourceful
Quote: "Hey, trust me."
Pictures: Original pics by Amy. (Basic appearance modeled after Kaito Sindbad, from Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne.)
Dax Querran, anime style (350x389, 32K)
Dax Querran (312x275, 34K)

Personality and background:
Dax is cocky, arrogant, overconfident, and infuriatingly irreverant. And that's his good side. Actually, he's really a very nice guy and a great friend, even if he could rival even Jalinda for pure bullheadedness. Dax is from a tiny village in the mountains, and his parents wanted him to be farmers, like they were. He actually sneaked off to become a Waverunner without telling them, knowing they would be angry; they had never approved of his dreams of becoming a warrior. Anyway, Dax is a fun-loving guy, maybe a bit inclined towards pranks and sometimes having a problem with authority, but his heart is in the right place, and he does his best to do the right thing. Just now he is focused on clearing his name and making Reyva pay for her crimes against him and his friends. Perhaps he finds her easier to face than his parents...

Aedan Dosiere
Aedan Dosiere

Played by: Isaac
Originality: Original character
Profession: Waverunner
Hometown: Shelor(?)
Race: Human
Age: 25(?)
Gender: Male
Hair: Short, light brown
Eyes: Blue
Build: Tall, muscular
Usual clothing: Blue Waverunner uniform, or traveling clothes, blue headband
Weapon of choice: Sword (?)

Aedan Dosiere (350x363, 34K)
More Aedan (186x400, 33K)

Personality and background:
A serious, dedicated young man, Aedan is older than most newly invested Waverunners. He has a strong desire to prove himself, and he has always stayed on the right side of the law. So it deeply hurts him to be on the run, dodging the guard. Sometimes he even wonders if he might have somehow been at fault for his attack on the queen, even though he doesn't even remember it. There are times when Jalinda has to talk sense in him, when he thinks about turning himself in. Aedan always wants to do what's right. He is the son of a tailor, which accounts for his unusual skill in sewing—something he's sometimes self-conscious of, but Jalinda, at least, has always believed that a useful skill should never be derided, no matter how unconventional it may be for a warrior to be able to darn his own socks. Aedan is a true friend and a very nice young man, even if he does take himself a bit too seriously sometimes.

Bonita
Bonita

Played by: Bonnie
Originality: Original character
Profession: Street magician (illusionist)
Hometown: ?
Race: Human
Age: ?
Gender: Female
Hair: Long, brown
Eyes: Brown
Usual clothing: Simple but colorful peasant's clothes, suitable for performing

Bonita (288x679, 40K)
Bonita with dragon (292x297, 21K)

Personality and background:
While true magic has long been thought only a legend, some remnants of magic do remain. One obvious example is the ocean magic used by those who live in the waters of the gulf, but another is the occasional appearance of powers like Bonita's. Bonita has illusion magic, magic used for creating images and things without substance. Normally she uses it for street performances, as a way to earn a living, but she recently made friends with Jalinda, Dax, and Aedan, and soon after was able to dispel Reyva's magic from them. Bonita's magic is not powerful, but it may have further uses as yet unknown. A pleasant traveling companion with a ready wit, she is currently traveling with Jalinda, Dax, and Gil on their journey to the northern mountains.

Ophelia
Ophelia

Played by: Annie
Originality: Original character
Profession: Player in a street actors' troupe; pickpocket and thief on the side
Hometown: ?
Race: Human
Age: ?
Gender: Female
Hair: Long, brown, in a ponytail
Eyes: Brown
Usual clothing: Flashy performance clothes
Weapon of choice: Whatever's available
Basic skills: Charisma and conning, pickpocketing and thievery, sneaking and scouting
Pictures: Pic is of Meg, from the video game Suikoden II.
Ophelia (187x400, 29K)

Personality and background:
Ophelia is a devious, sneaky girl with a wacky, slightly twisted sense of humor and few inhibitions. At the moment she is part of a traveling troupe of actors that recently arrived in Shelor to perform. Their choice of stageplays is, to say the least, unusual. When not inspiring hilarity and laughter in crowds in the street, Ophelia can be found relieving the occasional pedestrian of his wallet (our heroes first met Ophelia after Dax caught her stealing his money pouch), or tagging along with Dax or Aedan as they gather evidence to prove their innocence. On one such foray, she and Aedan were captured by Lady Reyva and imprisoned in her castle. They have since escaped, having collected some evidence and possibly useful items, but having no idea what to do with them. They have also learned of Reyva's most recent plot against Queen Irelle, said to take place during a ball at the palace in a couple weeks' time. Currently, they are trying to figure out how to stop Reyva from carrying out her plan. Oh, and while they were imprisoned, Ophelia and Aedan apparently fell in love, as well, forming the first romance of the Waverunner Chronicles. And there was much rejoicing—yay. *Throws confetti*

Lady Analiese

Played by: Saren
Originality: Original character
Profession: Noblewoman
Hometown: Her father's estates outside Shelor
Race: Human
Age: ?
Gender: Female
Hair: Long, blond
Usual clothing: Fine gowns and dresses; sometimes dresses as a boy, in swordsman's clothes
Weapon of choice: Rapier
Basic skills: Kindness, mediation, decent swordfighter; also has strange, prophetic dreams
Pictures: None yet

Personality and background:
Lady Analiese has been Lady Reyva's best friend since they were children. Analiese has always been the quieter, softer of the two, and Reyva was always protective of her frail friend. After Reyva's disappearance and return, a distance grew between them, but they are still friends. Reyva is the only one who knows of Analiese's secret pastime—Analiese has taught herself swordfighting, and sometimes she dresses as a young man and walks the streets of Shelor, seeing life outside the sheltered estate where she has been confined for most of her life. Likewise, Analiese is the only one who knows Reyva's secret, that she has taught herself magic. Recently, Analiese has been having strange, frightening dreams that she can't explain; most seem to involve Reyva gaining power, but doing it through cruelty and bloodshed, dealing death to those who oppose her. Struggling between her devotion to her friend and her fear of what Reyva might do, Analiese has not decided what to do about these dreams. Recently Analiese had a fight with her father, with whom she has never gotten along; he wants her to get married (most noblewomen her age are married, except of course Reyva). Analiese wants to experience life more before she marries some nobleman she does not love, because she knows that with her frail health, she will probably die giving birth to her first child. After hearing of Analiese's father's angry outburst during this argument, Reyva offered Analiese a place to stay on her estates, which Analiese accepted. She currently has rooms there, but she still struggles with her loyalty to her best friend and her loyalty to her queen.

Lady Reyva (215x348, 17K)

Personality and background:
Reyva is something of an enigma. When she was young, she discovered some old books that spoke of an ancient power called magic. She began to teach herself to use this power, doing so in secret and telling no one but her best friend, Lady Analiese. At the age of thirteen she was sent away to school, but on her way home for a holiday, she and her entourage were attacked by dwarves while making their way through the mountains. The survivors tried to make for safety, but a blizzard caught them, and Reyva was separated from the others. Her Waverunner guard tried to find her, searching tirelessly, but he could not. He was the lone survivor to report back. But mysteriously, Reyva walked out of the mountains and into the village of Teslev several months later, alone, but healthy and unharmed. No one knows where she had been during those months, and she will not tell, claiming not to remember. During her absence, Reyva's father had died in an accident, and a couple years later she took charge of his estates. She still studies magic in secret, and Jalinda and her friends have seen that magic at work. Reyva has always sought power, and it seems now she is seeking the throne of Waterlight...and the life of her cousin the queen.

Persephone
Persephone

Played by: Elfie
Originality: Original character
Profession: Pirate
Homeland: Across the sea to the east
Race: Human
Age: ?
Gender: Female
Hair: Black
Eyes: Blue-violet
Appearance: Dark, exotic features
Usual clothing: Flashy pirate clothes
Weapon of choice: Sword
Basic skills: Plundering, sailing
Pictures: Original artwork by Elfie
Persephone (253x496, 34K)

Personality and background:
Persephone is a pirate from the lands across the sea to the east. She was caught in a storm and blown off course, and finally only she and her sidekick Xeth were able to make their way to land again. They washed up on the shores of Waterlight, where the first person they met was Lady Reyva. They did not reveal that they were pirates, but they did explain where they were from and how they had gotten lost. Intrigued, Reyva offered to introduce them at court as ambassadors from the unknown lands to the east, since apparently no one has ever crossed the sea before, as far as anyone knows, and no one in Waterlight knew what lay beyond the open ocean. Persephone and Xeth accepted gratefully, and once Reyva had gone, they gleefully discussed the many opportunities available to two pirates who had unexpectedly gained the favor of a noblewoman in a rich kingdom. What with recent events (which are unknown to Persephone and Xeth), however, Reyva's patronage may not be so beneficial as they think...

Persephone
Xethyryndan

Played by: Mark
Originality: Original character
Profession: Pirate's sidekick
Homeland: Across the sea to the east
Race: Pixant (a male pixie)
Age: ?
Gender: Male
Hair: Shaggy, brown
Appearance: Small & wiry, nine inches tall
Usual clothing: Brown tunic resembling leaves
Weapon of choice: Tiny sword
Basic skills: Thievery, being annoying, coming up with ideas (which don't necessarily work)
Pictures: Original artwork by Amy
Xeth (250x316, 32K)

Personality and background:
That's right, Xeth is back! Well, since DWS is on indefinite hold, I thought it was really too bad Xeth wasn't around anymore, since he was such a fun character and never got to be involved in DWS during the period when everything was happening. So when I was trying to help Elfie think of a character to play, it occurred to me to ask Mark to bring him into WRC. Anyway, this is the same character as the Xeth of DWS, but with a different background. He is still a pixant with the same old personality we know and love, but he is not a dream creature from the Dreamworld. Instead, he comes from the lands across the sea to the east, and he is currently Persephone the pirate's sidekick (you know, kinda like a talking parrot, only better...and more annoying). For a fuller description of Xeth's personality, click here.
