Technology in AlundraRPG
Technology is mostly medieval in nature, although some of it fits more into what was available in the Renaissance. Printing presses do not commonly exist, and nearly all books are still handwritten. Papermaking is advanced enough that while paper is still expensive, it is not prohibitively so for most people. Many artistic endeavors are quite advanced.
Basic technological items such as simple spyglasses exist. Some people were spectacles, if they can afford them. Clockwork is known in these regions, though it is quite expensive. Motorized vehicles are unknown, and transportation is primarily on foot, horseback, or in carts or carriages drawn by horses or oxen.
In the north they have knowledge of simple compasses, though such devices are not widely used elsewhere. Navigation is mostly done by the stars and the sun. Ships and sailing technology are almost nonexistent in this part of the world, for while ships do put into the Rannisk River Delta ports, nearly all of them come from across the sea. Shipbuilding and sailing are mostly unknown among the people of this continent.
Medical technology is actually fairly good, though most medicines are derived from simple herbs and folk remedies generally prevail. Such practices as bloodletting are not common, however, as doctors and village healers tend to know better. For the most part, doctors tend to prescribe plenty of rest and good food for most ailments, although they do have some good first aid and emergency knowledge such as setting bones or, in extreme cases, performing amputations.
As for other kinds of technology, you may ask me if a specific item or method is used and I will be able to give you a more detailed answer.
