Races in AlundraRPG

GrandiaRPG had a large number of possible races for characters to play, including the option to create new ones. AlundraRPG will be much different. Here are your options:

Heh, okay, seriously, there are other options. But the vast majority of you should end up playing Humans. Humans make up probably 90% of the population of the continent, after all, and any other races are exceedingly rare. Characters will differ, rather, in their professional and national backgrounds, as well as social class and personality.

In addition to humans, elves also exist. They are found mostly only in remote locations, however, and have tended to blend into human society. There aren't many of them, but they aren't known to have special abilities. If anything, they're believed to be just a tiny bit eccentric, with unique customs and traditions. Throughout the generations they have modified these to fit into human society. They aren't common, but most people will recognize an elf if they see one. Stat-wise, elves may be a tiny bit more agile and a bit less physically strong than other races, but there really isn't much difference as far as game abilities are concerned.

The Clan of Elna is one specific type of elf, one that has not been seen in generations and is now considered mostly legendary. Scholars and bards still know of them, but most people have not heard of the Elna. They are said to be a clan of dreamwalkers, gifted with the ability to enter others' minds while they are sleeping or unconscious and view their dreams. They also have the ability to eradicate harmful nightmares. Of the humanoid species, only an Elna can dreamwalk, although some demons and minor gods have been known to use the ability as well. It may be possible for some beings to take others into dreams with them, as Melzas did with the Murgg in order to send them to Inoa, but no one is quite sure how this might work. Many Elna have grown up as part of human society. There may be enclaves of Elna tribes here and there, but no one knows where they might live. Elna who grow up away from their clan rarely know of their true origins or even of their ability to dreamwalk, in most cases. Elna sometimes have prophetic dreams, but not all recognize them for what they are. Physically, Elna don't differ much from other elves, if at all.

Please note: I will only be allowing one Elna in the game! This is similar to my restriction on Icarians. You may apply with an Elna if you wish, but overall you may have a better chance of getting in if you apply with a human, depending on how many Elna applications I end up receiving.

Other races do exist in this world, though they will not be playable. These include minor gods and demons such as Melzas, the nightmare king; the stone giant gods such as Nirude, of which he was reportedly the last; incubi such as Zorgia and succubi such as Sara, and other dream demons such as Soul Leeches and Great Slimes; humanoid and semi-intelligent apes called the Murgg; humanoid warrior lizards of questionable intelligence; tiny gnomish gremlins who served the stone giants and carried scythes as weapons; and a race of long-lived sages called the Zolists. Some say fairies exist, though most believe these are but children's stories. There may be others that are as yet unknown. Unless you have a really good reason, however, I will not allow any of these races to be playable.
