Hey all! After the enormously successful GrandiaRPG—and let's face it, it was a freakin' long RPG and people had to have been interested to stick with it for three and a half years—I decided to take a break for a bit. That break is almost over! My next RPG is in the works, and as I have mentioned to many of you over the last couple years or so, it's based on the game Alundra. Now, Alundra is extremely different in style and gameplay from Grandia, and it's also possibly rather less well known. It's a fun game, but in the event that you don't have the time or the desire to play it, you can find story summaries on this page. But worry not, you don't really need to know much of the game's story to follow along in the RPG. The setting will be entirely different, and very few, if any, of the characters will return from the game! But the overall atmosphere will be similar, at the least, as will the basic premise.
If you're interested in applying for this game you can find most of what you need to know in "How to Join". But there are a few things you should also keep in mind:
- Alundra has a very different atmosphere from Grandia. It's actually fairly grim! So be prepared for some angst and despair. There will be high points too, and some bright spots, but this is a darker RPG overall. Let's put it this way: roughly half of the characters in the game died before you defeated the final boss, and my RPG will not be much different. Even PCs may die during the course of the game, so be aware of this and read the game rules carefully so you're not unpleasantly surprised later!
- AlundraRPG will hopefully not last nearly as long as Grandia. So if you don't think you want to apply because you just can't handle that long a haul, don't worry! I'm going to try to keep this much shorter. Because of the setting, AlundraRPG will simply have a far smaller scope than GrandiaRPG did. The point of that game was to explore a vast world, after all, whereas in Alundra, it's just to survive!
- I haven't made any choices as yet about when the game will start or how many players I will accept, but I think I'll probably not accept more than seven. We'll see.
